Ayushman Khuran's Latest Movie Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan Movie Review:-

Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan

Critic's Rating: 3.5/5

STORY: Salesmen Aman Tripathi ( Mr. Jitendra Kumar) and Kartik Singh ( Mr. Ayushmann Khurranna) got love in Delhi Capital, where they live in oblivion and their relationship develops and flowers without being frowned upon. But problems begin to crop up if both decide to return to Allahabad and convince Aman's orthodox parents for their approval.

However, his small-towner spouse Aman dreads the only thought of a nasty confrontation with his folks. While Kartik remains hopeful that his passion-filled romance will melt the Tripathais, Aman understands better - that the possibility of a collective acceptance is near impossible!

The opening scene of the intimate comedy manages to squeeze a broad smile out of you personally, such is your filmy charm of a flamboyant Kartik along with his left handed, yet personable, fan Aman. The bunch is observed pursuing a train to Allahabad, where they're headed for an uphill battle with the latter's household members and the society's traditional mindset generally.

The setting is Allahabad and Aman -the ladla Ghost -is expected to clean the debt of his'daddy's sperm for the rest of his life' by devoting an overtly coy Kusum, who's yet another character stitched into the narrative for emphasising on the buried desires of a submissive fated town girl -functions for this cinematic effect.

The mood and tone is basically satirical and puny, laced with melodrama which is employed occasionally but feels somewhat too far-fetched on many occasions. Also, since the movie is mostly spent in the small-town drama relevant to the taboo around same-sex relationships, the writer-director neglects to tap the elements exclusive to small cities such as Allahabad, also limits the plotline to one conventional family. While dismissing the enigma of this holy city and all that it offers in terms of cinematic and visual experience, the manager snatches off the possibility of SMZS being a believable watch.

But, Ayushmann Khuranna's depiction of this smooth-talking, using a devil-may-care-less mindset, Kartik is really a joy to see on screen and he more than makes up for the harm. His unabashed ability to appreciate constantly grows on youpersonally, and his onscreen characteristic trait of being funny in strange, awkward moments is that which makes him the ideal fit for this function. Along with walking shoulder to shoulder with the eccentric Kartik, is Jitendra Kumar's demure and docile Aman: if Ayushmann highjacks the movie with his contagious energy, a mellow Jitendra accounts it out using his poker-faced humor and the relatability variable that he maintains through the film; a natural.

It is notable regarding how well the supporting cast leaves its complete (and able) support to the lead group. Gajraj Rao, as the dominating patriarch plus a collapsed scientist, is both serious in his attitude when desired, and humorous, when the situation demands him to become. Likewise, Neena Gupta, since the fully-invested mother and'aadhi adhuri' spouse, delivers a number of the greatest punch lines and gets the small-town mindset bang on. It's safe to say the remainder of the cast, also, has been handpicked with much thought.

Sure, the narrative has social relevance and is one that has to be told - if functioned in the form of a humor - but can it start a conversation in two-tier cities about homosexual love? Perhaps not. Additionally, the orgasm is an offshoot of numerous tried-and-tested formulas, also seems like it had been conjured up in tearing hurry; all too handy. Though the first half is participating, the second half loses its sheen pretty early on and could have been trimmed down with a good 20 minutes. Thankfully, the number of songs are somewhat less but again, not one of them are hummable.

All in all,'SMZS' will give small-town parents the much needed nudge, and possibly, in the remote future, they will have the strength to take their offsprings for that they are. However, for now, see it to your performances and the'chaska' of love, with two men pouring their hearts out for the entire world to see and accept.
